Pause Cat Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Snekanth BABU ("I", "me"), the maker of Pause Cat. By using Pause Cat you agree to them. Google Play's own terms also apply to downloads and purchases. How the app handles data is in the Privacy Policy.

1. What Pause Cat is

Pause Cat is a playful screen-time companion: when you stay in an app you picked past your limit, a cartoon cat walks onto your screen and gets in the way until you leave. It never locks you out. It is not a medical device and not a treatment for addiction or any health condition; if your phone use worries you, talk to a professional. Don't use your phone, or Pause Cat, while driving.

2. Your licence

I give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Pause Cat on Android devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. Please don't copy, resell or redistribute the app or its art, take it apart beyond what the law allows, or get around how purchases are checked. This licence ends if you break these terms.

3. Purchases

• Everything that helps you leave an app, including watching your apps, every visit, leaving, snoozing, days off, gifts, fish coins, the diary and Mango, is free. The extras for sale are cosmetic.
• Purchases are made through Google Play. Google sets the final price, charges any tax and processes the payment.
• Cats, outfits and packs are licences to use them in Pause Cat, not items you own outside it. They are tied to your Google account: reinstall the app or use Restore purchases with the same account to get them back.
• The Forever pack includes every cat that is part of Pause Cat now, and every cat added later while Pause Cat is offered.
• Treats are used up when your cat eats them. They have no cash value.
• Fish coins are earned in the app, never sold, and have no cash value. They can't be exchanged or transferred.
• If a purchase is refunded or reversed, what it unlocked is removed again.

4. Refunds

Refunds work under Google Play's refund policy: within 48 hours of a purchase you can ask Google through Google Play; after that, write to me at theluckydude777@gmail.com and I'll look at it. In the EU and the UK, digital items are delivered as soon as you buy them, so, as Google Play explains at checkout, the 14-day right to withdraw ends once an item is delivered. None of this affects your legal rights if an item doesn't work or isn't as described.

5. Changes and availability

Pause Cat gets updates: features, cats and art may change, and I may stop offering the app. It needs Android permissions that you can switch off at any time, and some phone makers limit apps running in the background, which can stop the cat from showing up. I'll keep what you've bought working in the app for as long as I offer it.

6. Fair use

Use Pause Cat as intended. Don't use it to break the law, to harm others, or to interfere with the app or other people's devices.

7. The cat and the art

Pause Cat, its cats, art, name and code belong to me. You're welcome to share the videos and GIFs the app makes of your cat, for example in your stories or posts, for personal, non-commercial use.

8. No guarantees, and limits on liability

I make Pause Cat with care, but I can't promise it will always work on every phone or without interruption.

I am fully liable for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). For slight negligence I am liable only if I breach an obligation that is essential to these terms (one that makes using Pause Cat possible and that you may rely on), and then only for the damage typical for this kind of agreement that I could foresee. Otherwise I am not liable for slight negligence. Your statutory rights for faulty digital content are not affected.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the law of Germany. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date, and important changes are mentioned in the app's release notes. A change never takes away anything you have already bought.
